About the Managing Principal

Matthew Wolf is the Managing Principal of Bald Eagle Capital SARL.  Mr. Wolf was a Partner and Investment Analyst at Capital World Investors, a division of the Capital Group, where he worked from 2008-2023.   Mr. Wolf managed a $2B portfolio at Capital that was invested across the energy, utilities, telecom, financial services and real estate sectors.  He delivered a compound annual return of 8.8%, 150 bps above his benchmark over 14 years.  Mr. Wolf had particularly distinguished results in the income oriented funds,.  In the Income Fund of America (IFA), Mr. Wolf delivered a compound annual return of 12.4% over 12 years, 350 bps above his benchmark.  In the International Growth & Income Fund (IGI) Mr. Wolf delivered a compound annual return of 11.2%, over 13 years, 450 bps above his benchmark,.

Mr. Wolf was responsible for the $10B research portfolio of New Perspective Fund (2014-17) and the $10B research portfolio of Capital World Growth and Income (2022-23).  He was also the chair of Capital World's energy cluster and co-chair of the weekly global investment call.  Mr. Wolf has lived and invested in Asia, the US and Europe, and he was the Research Director for Capital World's Asia group. 

Prior to Capital, Mr. Wolf was an Associate at Bain Capital and a Strategy Consultant at Monitor Group.

Mr. Wolf is also an angel investor and has been a member of Wisconsin Investment Partners (WIP) since 2019.

Mr. Wolf has his B.A., cum laude, from Yale in Economics and International Relations with distinction in both majors.  He has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business..
